Welcome to the “Chopped for CHOP fundraiser for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia” edition of the MagnaFYI. This marks our tenth year, and I am proud to say we have raised over $150,000 during that time. I remember trying to sell my partners on the concept of a competitive mock trial with only one person left standing; they all looked at me like I was nuts! I probably am just a little nutty. Bob Ackerman asked if I really plan to “chop” my clients on stage in front of a live audience, and I said yes. Well, I appreciate that my partners tolerated me, and I am pleased to say that we have made many new friends through this program. Perhaps a few may still want to send me to the moon, but, overall, it has been a unique opportunity to blend business with something that has a positive impact on the community. Thank you to all who have attended, participated, and competed – you are all fantastic.

So, what am I up to now? In addition to my Magna endeavors, I recently started a non-profit with my friend Glen Bronstein called the Jewish American Insurance and Legal Professionals Association, also known as JINLAW.ORG, which rolls off the tongue a bit easier. As a father of three children (two of whom are in college), I felt it was the perfect time to form an organization open to all who stand against antisemitism and hate. The group is a professional trade organization that will enable both Jewish and non-Jewish members to enrich their professional careers while providing a platform to push back against this unprecedented rise in antisemitism.
