Courtney is a seasoned litigator and strategic advisor who blends more than a decade of advocacy with a proven record of risk assessment, collaboration, and results. As a consultant, she uses her experience to assist attorneys with case analysis, trial strategy, and effective communication of case theories and facts.
Courtney served as a prosecutor in the Bronx, managing a significant felony caseload. She tried cases to verdict, dealt with hundreds of grand juries, honed voir dire techniques and witness credibility assessments, and co-authored an amicus brief before New York’s highest court. As an attorney with the federal government, Courtney liaised with various federal, state, and local agencies, and advised senior leaders on risk assessments that balanced strategy with practical and effective legal guidance. Courtney co-chaired the Legal Subcommittee for multiple National Special Security Events, and designed and implemented training programs on discovery and civil liability for law enforcement. In addition, she investigated and resolved hundreds of complex civil rights complaints nationwide, and, as a trained mediator, successfully handled numerous alternative dispute resolutions.
Admitted to practice in New York, Courtney received her J.D. from New York Law School, and her B.A. from The George Washington University. In her spare time, she can usually be found talking about food or spending time with her husband and two kids.
