Eric Lalande
Director of Quantitative Research; Senior Litigation Consultant
Eric Lalande, M.A. is the Director of Quantitative Research and Senior Litigation Consultant at Magna Legal Services, LLC. He leads the firm’s quantitative research department and oversees the development and execution of large-scale, data-driven studies that inform high-stakes litigation nationwide. Eric directs Magna’s quantitative studies practice, including case valuation analyses, juror profiles, change of venue research, and national survey-based initiatives spanning jurisdictions across the United States.
In this leadership role, Eric sets methodological standards, designs research frameworks, and guides litigation teams in leveraging empirical data to shape case strategy, assess risk, and evaluate potential outcomes. He works closely with trial counsel and internal teams to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making at every stage of litigation.
Beyond his quantitative leadership, Eric has experience in qualitative research and trial strategy development, advising on focus groups, mock trials, shadow juries, and jury selection/voir dire. He also partners with counsel to develop high-impact trial graphics and visual presentations that effectively communicate key themes to juries.
Prior to joining Magna, Eric spent several years as a therapist working with individuals facing substance abuse and developmental disorders. This background informs his expertise in decision-making, behavioral dynamics, and how individuals process and retain information—insights that underpin his approach to jury research and trial consulting.
Eric has worked across a wide range of complex matters, including medical malpractice, personal injury, insurance coverage, financial disputes, intellectual property/patent litigation, construction, and commercial litigation. He is a frequent guest lecturer at various universities, where he presents on jury research, focus groups, and voir dire, and he regularly develops and delivers continuing legal education (CLE) programs for law firms and professional organizations.
Eric is fluent in English and French. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Penn State University and his master’s degree in criminology from DeSales University.
